Ford is constantly working towards improving safety in both its cars and commercial vehicles such as the Transit van. A recent article by a large consumer website detailed much of Ford's visions and current developments, both in Silicon Valley where much of the technology is being developed, and also at Ford's proving ground in Dearborn, Michigan.
The connected vehicle system allows cars and vans to ‘talk' to each other, meaning that, instead of improving the aftermath of a crash, the system is designed to prevent collisions.
Whilst basic versions of the technology are available in a small amount of luxury cars, it could one day find itself installed within new Ford vans such as Ford Transit vans.
Still in an early stage of development, connected vans and car systems are being ‘aggressively' developed by the Ford, as they are considered to be the next big breakthrough in car and commercial van safety.
