Ford 1.0 EcoBoost Engine award winner again
The Ford 1.0L EcoBoost engine has celebrated another top accolade, this time being named the Best Engine Under 1.0-litre’ at the 2015 International Engine of the Year Awards.
Among the most celebrated technological advances which Ford is credited for in recent years, the EcoBoost is designed to combine enhanced power and fuel consumption with a significant reduction in greenhouse emissions. With ten new Ford models for sale now equipped with the 1.0 EcoBoost engine, it means more people than ever are experiencing first-hand the benefits that this award-winning power source can provide.
The engine was pitted against others and judged on a host of parameters, including driveability, performance, economy, refinement and technology. With the eventual winner being decided by a panel of 87 automotive journalists from 35 countries, it’s clear that victory for the 1.0 EcoBoost is by no means luck.
Eighth major award in half as many years
It represents the eighth major award for the 1.0 EcoBoost in just four years, joining a long list of accolades which also included being named Overall International Engine of the Year three times in a row – the first engine to ever achieve this.
When speaking about the award, Joe Bakaj, vice president of product development for Ford of Europe, said that the 1.0 EcoBoost changed the game for small petrol engines and they are proud that it still sits at the top of its class. He added: “The spirit of innovation that helped us create this engine is alive and well and we continue to develop new engines.”
