The 2011 Euro NCAP results were recently released and the Ford Focus received a 5 star rating for its safety performance.

The Euro NCAP offers motoring consumers - both drivers and the automotive industry - with an independent and realistic assessment of the safety standards of some of the most popular cars available in Europe.

Euro NCAP is a completely voluntary vehicle safety rating system; it was originally established in the UK, but later received backing from the European Commission, including seven other European governments, as well as a host of motoring and consumer organisations in every EU country.

In the new 2011 rating scheme, the Ford Focus gained its 5 star rating across various tests, which included: internal child and adult safety, external safety to pedestrians, assisted vehicle safety features, and fitted safety systems. The advanced safety technologies which Ford uses and NCAP favours include the Forward Alert, Driver Alert, Lane Keeping Aid and the Active City Stop.
