Changes to the driving theory test announced
Since its introduction in July 1996, the driving theory test has been the first step towards being able to drive legally on the UK's roads. The Drivers Standards Agency have just announced that they will be revising the tests to make them harder. Previously all questions used within the test have been available to candidates, but this will no longer be the case.
By stopping the publication of the answers to the driving theory test, it will now mean those taking the test will need to read the Highway Code and base their answers on that. In the past, it has been possible just to memorise questions and answers.
Revision booklets and computer software will still be available from the DSA, but exercises will be aimed at helping candidates apply their knowledge into practical driving situations, so that they have a better understanding of road safety.
